Thinking of You

A leaf fell to the ground,
I picked it up.

All the while I was thinking
of you.

Wishing you could come
back so easily.

A nail was stepped on,
I felt the pain.
Never looking down
to see it in my path.

The sun was out
late morning.
I stopped the day
caring for my foot.

I'll limp this afternoon
arriving there with a setting sun.

Arriving in pain,
I never looked down.
