Day Like Any Other

This day like any other
Unreal, surreal, purefined
The book stacks still there
The concomitant
clock’s hands fall with sunsets
Ticking the heat out
Imagine a box-full of books

Suddenly, we were a new world
My real world, my only lonely
My empty
Desolate waste, but not the bright desultory, lengthy white-walled corridor to
A void
The pretty white city

This day like any other
This life you wanted, now
That box-full of books
