Christmas Poem

My belly is full. The walls of my mouth are slick.
The room is warm. No bombs get dropped at my back door.
I twinge no aches requiring an analgesic.
On my planet, this makes me rarest of the rare.
I suffer no fools, fops, no suffering at all.
My plates are porcelain. I eat with silverware.
I make no sacrifice for others, bear no pall.
I could vacuum again but just stare at the floor.
The windows are shut. I double-check the locks.
I could put up a tree, hang ornaments, but what for?
The artificial tree stays folded in its box.
The house cat, who does not know this is Christmas, snores.
I could carol, but the solos would all be mine.
Silent night, wholly night, all is calm, all is bore.
Peace on Earth. My planet is flat. What night divine?
