The Dirty Rainbow

I bleed and bleed.
I cover the floor.
But there is no relief to be found.
Itís only therapy.
For my skin
not my mind.
It grows stronger with each incision.
Healing crossing healing.
My arms are a roadmap
of something thatís not quite pain.
My own personal testimony
twisting me tighter
into the knot
Iím destined to slip.
Around my throat.

White Rose Number 2

When she saw it,
the room lost focus.
Falling in a muddled mess
of brown.
The background.
to the only foreground that mattered.
But innocence can only bloom,
for so long
before it loses its appeal.

Itís then that the shadow image
dancing in the back
More interesting
in its tinted light.
But inching closer.
To claim the center stage.

Die for Me

"I want to die."
You call to me from the barren basin
of some nocturnal torment.
"I want to die."
The words form the unbreakable leash
I pull from that place you cannot see.
And you wake to find me filled
with the crooked-letter tears
that wet us with the shame of their foretelling answers.

I want to die.
The words slide over and under my skin,
snagging on the scabbed scars of past error.
I want to die.
I silently pray as you fire blanks at my forehead
already thick with the black powder stains of redundancy.
And I open my eyes to find you cowering in the corner,
mumbling the path or our coveted end.

"I want to die."
I want to die.
The stillness floods with promise.
And I watch you pretending to sleep
as you watch me pretending to load the gun with blanks.
