Invisible Man

An invisible man walked by
today. His steps were soft
as a leaf when it first reaches
the earth and he shimmered
like sun beams gliding through
the window. I smelled him,
that invisible man, like deep gray
smoke drifting by. He ran his hand
through the water of the faucet and
tinkled with the breeze through
my wind chime of glass cherries.
No one else saw him,
my invisible man, but I knew when
some papers fluttered gently off
the counter and his shadow
peaked out in the corner of my eye,
I know that an invisible man walked by.
