Death on the Sidewalk
Carcass of a birdLying in morbid silence
Intruding on my pleasant stroll
A blunt reminder
That our destiny is death
And yet there is a grace
In your stiff stillness
Swollen body
Rugged blue feathers
Those sad piercing eyes
Might you be a messenger?
Who speaks without voice
A reminder that,
Even in death,
Beauty abides
